Picture Day
Well I tried to post some of this yesterday but Blogger was being less than cooperative with me. Not sure if there was a problem or if it just didn't like my computer at work since everything loaded fine when I got home last night...
The finished Vintage Red Sewing Set. I'm unhappy with the scissor sheath but I can't decide if I dislike it enough to remake it. Its actually supposed to have a running stitch just inside the edge to hold it together but that left too much exposed on the edges in my opinion so I opted for this blanket stitch instead.
I did spend some quality time making friends with my sewing machine this weekend, after seeing the project roll that Jo made I got out my fabric and got my own put together.
Here it is rolled out. I added an extra layer of fabric in there as alot of the things I'm stitching lately have beads and I didn't want to risk a piece of canvas snagging on one and pulling it off.
Here it is rolled up. I haven't gotten ribbon yet for the tie to keep it together, I'm trying to find a nice red to match. With all the Christmas out in the stores all I can find is Christmas red and that just doesn't quite do it for me so I may have to wait until the new year. In the mean time it does make a great place to stash all those finished projects I haven't gotten around to framing or finishing.
I'll likely not be around for the next few days as its Thanksgiving here in the U.S. so I'll be busy with all that. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the U.S. and I hope everyone has a great weekend :)

I got the tin can and chart as part of my birthday present. I have not started anything on it yet. I like what I saw on the blog. The rolled up piece looks great. Happy thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteI think the scissors sheath looks great! You did a nice job on the whole set and your mom will be very pleased. Clever girl on reproducing Jo's sewing roll. They are a wonderful little invention. Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteI personally love the sewing kit, including the scissors case. I think it all turned out just beautiful and I am sure that your mom will be thrilled with it.
ReplyDeleteI just love the project roll, you done an amazing job on that as well!!!
Your scissor set is lovely. And I love that project roll. I just might have to make some of those myself. Nice job.
ReplyDeleteI love the Red Sewing set congrats on the finish. The roll up for UFO's is great too and a very clever idea that I may need to try.

I was inspired to make one of the rolls this weekend as well! I tried to take a short-cut, and I think that it wound up taking more time. Oh well! It was for a gift, so now I have to make one for myself...so it was a great learning experience, and I think I'll follow the instructions this time :) I like the idea of the larger roll, so I'll have to keep that in mind.
ReplyDeleteYour sewing set is very nice, too! I just got the patterns for the three smaller tins.
The sewing set turned out nice. I'm sure your mom will love it. I'm going to check out the roll, as I'm not sure what it's for. LOL
