And away I go

Image
Yay, we leave today! I can hardly wait. I have just realized that while I have a nice list of things to tote along, I have mananged to overlook actually PACKING any of it. This is completely unlike me. Perhaps having 2 days away will help me get my head back on straight and go back to being my usual odd self. 2 days of adrenaline can't possibly be a bad thing can it?

So close

Coming along, slowly but I'll get there. I haven't had alot of time for working on anything lately like I usually do. Life... interrupted. Nothing bad, just busy. I hope to be able to get the rest of the wrapping done on the bars today. Then I have this and one other piece to work on finishing.

Ok, this is MY idea of fun!

This is where I'll be in just over a week. My niece and nephew (pictured below) are finally tall enough to go on rides so we're taking them - no really its for the kids - anyway we're taking them to Cedar Point. Now doesn't 0 to 120 mph in 4 seconds sound like a nice stroll through the park? Perhaps a 400 ft drop at a 90 degree angle would be better? That's what you're seeing in this picture. It was taken just as you start to plummet, I mean ride down the "hill" Then of course there's the new one MaXair No one else seems to think this looks like a fun ride. This of course would be the same person who didn't think Power Tower looked like a cool ride. I eventually got him on that too.

Progress on Twinkle Pig

This piece is coming along nicely. Its become the project I take along to meetings with other stitchers as there is no counting and the stitches aren't so complicated that I need to concentrate. The Skirt is my favorite. This was Sparkly Rays from Rainbow gallery. I pulled one strand of the thread so the rest of it "gathered up" and then couched it in place. What a cool Idea. There will be some white on her legs yet, I haven't decided if i want to use white thread or white beads. I think beads may be a bit too much on her legs. I will have to try it and see I guess

Well done, please...

Doesn't Missie look just splendid here. We went to Lake Michigan Saturday since the weather was so nice. And of course I never got my sunscreen on quite fast enough or well enough after swimming and I am all crispy now, nice. My back, my shoulders, all a lovely shade of pink. And you think I'd have learned over the years and many, many sunburns but I never do. So what do I do Sunday but decide to go back. Well it *was* supposed to be crummy in town and the lake forecast was beautiful. Then there was Missie, she got left home all alone Saturday and we knew she liked the water even if she is just a little thing. So we brought her along as well. Tooo funny, while she'd been in water she'd never been in a lake with waves. She didn't know quite what to do with them. We carried her out just a bit and she did go in a swim to cool off and the above mess, I mean photo is the result. Amazingly she wasn't a complete mess but she's going to the groomers' today an

Rose Pincushion

Finally got this finished. I know, its not much and should not have taken me 5 days but the directions for finishing made this turn out smaller than the opening so I had to dig out my cord maker to make some trim to fill the space.

Sewing Case Progress

Image
My sewing case is coming along. I'm not terribly excited about this piece so I'm not moving with any amount of speed. This will probably go with my old treadle singer sewing machine to hold some of the little things I keep with it as its not big enough to haul any project and if I handle it too much it will be in need of a bath in no time

Isn't this how you have fun?

Now really, what did you expect from me, hopscotch?? These are several years old but I laugh everytime I see them. She wanted to play hopscotch, he just wanted to mess up her drawing, so what better thing to teach a 4 and a 6 year old than how to make the driveway look like a crime scene ;) I think they even got my hubby down to trace him. I'm sure my brother was most appreciative of their new knowledge as he is of all the bad things I teach them.

Completed Tin

Image
One down, I still have one to finish. I need to make some thin cording to go around the edge on the rose pincushion. The design was done for my Embroidery Guild Chapter to "match" the tin  and is done over 1 thread on 32 count linen.
