Yay for the end of the short week

Of course next week will be a short week for me as well as I have New years eve and day off so another 3 day week, hopefully with there being no full moon it won't feel like its twice as long as it really is when I get back to work on Wednesday.

Today a bit more progress on Quaker Sewing Treasures.  For being 1 over 1 this is moving along much faster than expected, I got my lap cloth out so the holes show up better so I'm not spending as much time trying to find where to stab my needle.  This is the result of about 2 hours of stitching last night, 4 more sides of the octagon complete and for something different I decided to start on the motif inside which has leaves and a bird, quarter added to the shot for scale to properly show just how tiny this really is.

I hope to be able to keep up with good progress, back in 2002 I herniated a disc in my back and while its healed I still have issues from time to time, usually when we have a big change in the weather.  My lower back is extremely stiff and sore and causing me problems with simple things like standing from a sitting position or bending to pick something up so I'm doing my best to take it easy so whatever is going on will improve without having another major issue, spending a week on doctor ordered bed rest last time was definitely *not* fun.  As independent as I am I did not like having to rely on everyone else for even the slightest thing... although any needlework I might have managed in the muscle relaxer induced haze certainly would have been interesting to say the least.

Thanks for reading!

  1. Great progress! Hope your back is feeling better soon. I believe I read that stitching is the perfect cure for back pain.

  4. Nice progress. I too like to swap about between motifs when I stitch a Quaker style design.
