The last of the stash

Thanks everyone for your comments.  I haven't been getting around and commenting as much as I'd like, alot has been going on here so I haven't had as much time as I normally do. I worked on some of my finishing last night and am having an awful time with the Lorri Birmingham pincushion. She says to run gathering stitches, stuff it, and put it in the silver basket but mine just ends up all puckered and I hate it so I'm going to have to mess with it a bit and see what I can do. If you have any suggestions or know where I can find some better instruction please let me know in my comments. There are a couple of things that I may try if I can't get the stuffing to fill it out as I'd like but I'd prefer to do it the proper way so I don't ruin my stitching.

Got my last 2 projects that I knew were coming. I really have made the decision that any new projects must really be spectacular as I certainly don't need anything more which means I'll buy 6 more projects this weekend. I have spotted a couple of things at market that I may have to indulge in as they are companions to pieces I have and have been waiting for, we'll see.

My other set of maidens finally came in as well. If you have never turned this one over it calls for needlepaints threads. The colors in this piece are fabulous but I don't know about $30 worth of cotton floss when I have DMC and Anchor as well. I'll have to check out the colors and see about that.

  1. i have the Maidens in my wish list and I will stitch mine in DMC, But since the project is so big that maybe $30 would be ok. But I am cheap LOL and probably do DMC.

  2. I'm not sure I understand the problem you're having with the LB finishing. But if it is what I think it is, I had some problems finishing Nantucket Pin Cushion: http://www.thesilverneedle.com/indigorose.html
What was suggested to me was "just keep working it" (Mona of Mona Magic at SN) and to try a bone folder. The bone folder worked great because it was sort of pointy, definitely flat and very smooth so it wouldn't ruin the finish. But Mona was right, I did have to "keep working it." PITA.

    Good luck!

  3. Thanks for the info. It is simular to the nantucket pin cushion only this one is oval and that is where my biggest problem is showing up, along the long end. I've tried more stuffing and it doesn't fit right then. I will try the bone folder, and I may run new gathering stitches to see if I can pull it any tighter. Hmm...
